COPA Copenhagen Patents carries out searches and investigations in patent databases and tailors our analyses to suit the needs of your company
NOVELTY SEARCHES AND OPINIONS ON PATENTABILITY
When we carry out novelty searches, we examine whether an invention has been previously disclosed in literature or whether there is a disclosure closely related to the invention. Patent literature has an overwhelming amount of technical information, such as technical information which only exists in patent literature. If your invention has been described before, there is no reason to embark on a time-consuming and costly patenting process. It may also be useful to have an overview of literature before initiating the patenting process. We will provide such an overview by preparing a novelty search and patentability opinion.
COMPETITOR AND TECHNOLOGY WATCHES
We can assist your company in forming a view of your competitors’ activities within your field or gain a quick insight into the latest developments within a particular technical field. Competitor and technology watches come in many shades and we will tailor a solution according to your needs.
We will prepare an opinion as to whether the specific rights of others constitute a problem in terms of your marketing of specific products or exercising of specific actions. We are very experienced in defending rights in practice and are therefore able to provide a qualified opinion based on practice.
A freedom-to-operate-analysis may prove a good investment prior to the launch of a new product, helping you to avoid, or at least significantly reduce, the risk of infringing the patent rights or others. We will examine whether you may risk infringing any existing patent rights when launching your product on the relevant markets.
IP DUE DILIGENCE ANALYSES
We will prepare an analysis covering the financial, commercial and legal aspects of a company’s IP rights. Such analysis will usually be relevant in connection with the sale of companies. IP due diligence analyses give you an overall assessment of a company and constitute particularly important information for a buyer when negotiating the terms and conditions of an agreement.
